Boomtown Heavy Trilogy

Trilogy

“Devils have levels, and believe you me, Lagoon ain’t the worst of ’em.”

The opening line of the Boomtown Heavy trilogy sets the haunting tone of a future noir that is heavily doused with dark comedy.

Dealing with themes of navigating darkness with the limited capacity of the human mind, escapism, and the constant whispers of rumor and gossip that can saturate any society. A wild cast of characters seek lifelines to the past, where things lost from the old world like the Congo river, Hawaii, and corn dogs hold mystery inside the mindscape.

Niko is caught between the fading life of a hired goon and his new career as one of the leading gleam-shop brokers on the island. While preoccupied with the question of who shot him outside Cafe Ola, it’s this obsession with vengeance that has saddled him in a dismal funk.

To break this wretched malaise, he’s enlisted a new and mysterious gleam-dream writer duo, whom attempt to use the creative wold of alternative-consciousness to quell Niko’s misery.

With Oona Elm Tree reigning atop the gleam-dream industry, she climbs the ladder of success as the brightest shooting star the island has ever seen. A sultry femme fatale who seeks political power, Oona cuts a sharp presence in both aura and strength. Her prowess as a savvy businesswoman as boosted her above the competition, and only Sunny Samuels and a handful of other elder racketeers stand in Oona’s way for supreme control.

The flimsy terms of real and unreal are stretched to the snapping point in this mind-bending psychological thriller, where those whom control images wield power.

Reality mixes with dreams amidst a backdrop of eccentric hustlers, as holograms coexist side by side with fleshly bodies, the steamy atmosphere shakes from heavy underworld tremors.
